The decision to evacuate Nigerians from South Africa was to protect them from the ongoing xenophobic attacks by South Africa citizens.
The President, Nigeria Citizens Association in South Africa Prince Ben Okoli who made this known noted that the decision by Air Peace to offer the Airlift was commendable.
He said it is necessary to evacuate those who are ready to come back home in order to further protect them from the attacks.
Prince Okoli added that many Nigerians were affected by the attacks with some losing their means of livelihood and have nothing to fall back on.
