Meanwhile, the Ogun State governor Prince Dapo has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his quick response to the problem of flooding presently ravaging some parts of the state
Governor Abiodun made the commendation this midweek while speaking after the inspection of isheri riverview estate in ifo local government alongside the minister of state environment and that of water resources and sanitation
The governor noted that the immediate dispatching of two ministers to the state by the.president to asses the.level of flooding and report back to him is a clear demonstration of a responsive administration
The governor who explained that a comprehensive study would be in place to determine the remote cause of the flooding and find a lasting solution said that some of the building identified during the on the spot assessment of the flooded estate that were built on the waterways disturbing free flow of water from ogun river into the.lagoon would be demolished assuring that government would put in place solutions that is sustainable in the interest of the residents
He added that government would also begin the immediate elevation of most roads and build necessary drainages to pave way for free flow of water
While assuring the residents of needed assistance, the first citizen of the gateway state commended some religious bodies such as Redeemed Christian Church of God and NASFAT for providing their worsjip centres as IDP camp for people affected by the flooding stating that the minister of humanitarian affairs, emergency management and social development would be in the estate before the end of the week with trucks of palliatives for the residents to cushion the effects of the flooding
Commending the two ministers for coming around to for the assessment over the ugly incidence, the governor who sympathised with the families of the people who lost their lives to the flood ,pleaded with the residents to ne patient as government would be deliberate and intentional in resolving the issue within a short period
