As part of efforts to sustain the eradication of Wild Polio Virus and respond to the recent outbreak of Circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Virus 2 (CvDpv2) in some parts of the country, Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board in collaboration with Development Partners in the health sector has begun the second round of 2022 OutBreak Response (OBR) and Vitamin A supplementation Exercise.
According to a statement credited to the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, the exercise, which started on Saturday 14 is expected to end on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 and would hold in all the twenty Local Government Areas of the State.
The statement added that the Outbreak Response exercise was aimed at protecting children 0-59 months and preventing the spread of the Polio virus to the State.
The statement also indicated that the exercise would involve the use of House-to-House vaccinating Teams, Government Health Facilities, Market places, and use of Transit Teams to religious houses for the administration of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)to children 0-59 months and vitamin A supplementation to children 6-59 months free of charge.
Mothers and caregivers are enjoined to make their children and wards available, as well as inform others to avail themselves of the opportunity of the exercise to avoid the spread of the virus in communities across the State.
