The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftains in the Southwest have disassociated themselves from a call for Oduduwa nation by some groups of people warning them to desist from such act in the interest of national unity

The National leader of APC who also double as the former governor of Osun state, Chief Bisi Akande made this known on Sunday at Lagos house, Marina, Lagos State while presenting to newsmen a communique issued at the end of a four hour closed door meeting with the southwest governors and other leaders of the party

The party in the Southwest according to the communique believes in the oneness of the nation advising the Federal government to allocate enough funds to the military and other security agencies in the country to address the security challenges and other criminalities currently affecting the nation

The communique urged Nigerians to join hands in order to overcome the nation’s problems as it transcend religious or ethnic affiliation, stating that the peace and unity of the nation is a collective responsibility

The communigue therefore called for federalism as it would help to address violence and engender peace and unity across the country, adding that the hallmark of the federalism should be the setting up of state police to beef up security architecture in the country.

In the communique, the party also supported the ban on open grazing agreed by the southern governors at a meeting held recently in Delta sttate, saying it would help to settle the crisis between the farmers and herders

It urged the federal and state governments to synergize by introducing modern ways of herding in order to permanently put a stop to the crisis and allow farmers to go about their normal business activities

The Party commended all the traditional rulers in the southwest for their spirited efforts in keeping the nation as one

The meeting was attended by both former and current governors including the Governor of Ogun State, Prince dapo Abiodun, the host, Lagos State Governor , Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, his counterpart from osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyeola, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Olusegun Osoba, the Minister of Trade and investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, General Alani Akinrinade among others.
