Peace they say is the beauty of life. It is sunshine. It is the smile of a child, the love of a mother, the joy of a father, the togetherness of a family. Someone once said “family is not an important thing, it is everything. The questions are: what is your family to you? Do you see your family as everything or just an important thing? Do you recreates with your family members or you are one of the fathers that goes out earlier before your children are awake from sleep? Husbands and wives are you always acting like daddy and mummy forgetting the bond you shared before you gave birth to those children? When last did your family go out together or you don’t see recreation as an avenue for bonding?

Studies have shown that when husbands and wives share leisure time together, they tend to have more satisfying marriage. Families with young children who participate in recreation together may help children feel valued. There is no doubt that there is a worrisome decline in the time parents spend with their children and this is affecting the level of cohesiveness. Most parents in our society today focus more on how to get the family members comfortable and happy but looking deeply one will discover that as they are working tirelessly to unify the family, they are becoming very far away from the family members.

Intimacy becomes bond or tie when marriage becomes expanded with the children. A family without a bond is one against itself. Real bonding in a family is only possible to the degree that we want it when we are honest about what we want, do and feel. Family bond emphasizes the closeness that should exist among husband, wife and children as the closeness that exists between a painter and his canvas. A question will quickly come to mind; can anyone hate his/herself? The answer to this question is most likely to be an emphatic NO.  This connotes that every family that is not ready to operate under the power of bond is not fit to be called family. Bonding in family is all about sharing reality with one and other and it develops very slowly and gradually through commitment.

Nothing is better than going home to family and eating good food and relaxing. How many of us have time for this “luxury”? What is the essence of the work you do; when your family will not enjoy your presence at home? Some parents work to the point that their children don’t even know them as parents. You ask yourself; why are you working? How do you think we can foster family bond and ties in our society? Some this one of the reasons for many divorce cases in our society today. Do you most of the problems at the home front will not be there if we recreate often? Do you think recreation is an avenue to foster family bond and ties? Let’s talk about it.  Time: 7am. OGBC 2, 90.5FM. Call 0803 437 9453 to be part of the discussion. facebook: ogunradio abeokuta join us
