The Nigeria Airforce is set to acquire 11 unmanned Supper Tukano aircraft’s before the end of June next year.
The chief of Air staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar Friday at the Force budget defence before the House of Representatives committee meeting on Air Force said the hi-tec aerial vehicles consist of 8 aircrafts from China and 3 JF 17 thunder fighter from Pakistan.
Describing the expected warcrafs as a boost to the defence of the county’s territorial airspace and the campaign against insurgency, the Air Marshall noted that funding for the Force must be upped for it to meet the rising cost of technology-based hardwares.
He complained about the N8.8 billion allocated to the Service for it’s overhead cost, an amount which he described as inadequate in the face of acquiring hardwares.
Air Marshall Abubakar added that a sum of N142.04 billion is proposed as the Force budget for 2021, made up of N101 billion for personnel cost, N8.8 billion and N31.4 billion being ceiling issued it for overhead and capital estimates.
According to the Air Chief, the Service has joined the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) for the payment of salaries of its personnel.
