HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CONFIRMS COMMISSIONER-NOMINEES

Barely 24 hours after screening the commissioner nominees, sent to the Ogun State House of Assembly by Governor Dapo Abiodun for ratification and approval, the house this Tuesday,confirmed their nomination, affirming their eligibility to serve as commissioners in the state.

The unanimous confirmation of the nominees by the lawmakers followed the presentation of the report of the committee on selection by the majority leader Assemblymen Yusuf Sheriff, who later moved the motion for the nominees confirmation, seconded by Assemblymen Sylvester Abiodun and supported by all lawmakers through a voice vote.

Earlier the assembly’s minority leader Assemblyman Ganiyu Oyedeji moved the motion for the adoption of the report and supported by all through voice vote at a plenary presided over by the speaker through Hon. Olakunle Oluomo at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Lobby correspondent Dele Ogunleye reports that the speaker remark observed that the state was at a critical stage that needed quality services beyond politicking and segregation, after leaders of the legislative causes including Assemblymen, Oludasi Elemide, Kemi Oduwole and Yusuf Sheriff gave an overview of their respective senatorial districts interactions with the nominees.

The assembly had on Monday screened all the nominees excluding Dr Tomi Coker, charging them to come up with developmental initiatives, as it is expected to them to bring their wealth of experience in their  various endeavor to bear in transforming the socio-economic status of the state.
