The Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) and The Radio, Television and Theatre Art Workers Union (RATTAWU), OGBC Chapels, applaud the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the approval and procurement of a cutting edge 5 kilowatts transmitter for the state-owned radio station, the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC).

The staff of OGBC under the umbrella of the two unions in the station in a released jointly signed by Chairman of NUJ, Mr. Chris Ogbu and Chairman of Rattawu Mr  Samuel Odunneye  expressed  sincere appreciation to the worker-friendly governor of the state for the kind gesture which will take OGBC to another realm of broadcasting excellence and it to regain its position as the Nation’s Model Station.

With this gesture, according to a statement by the NUJ Chairman, OGBC Chapel, Comrade Chris Ogbu and his RATTAWU counterpart, Comrade Samuel Odunleye, Governor Abiodun has written his name in gold in the annals of the state-owned broadcasting outfit for attending to the long time requests from OGBC and friends of the station for a new transmitter to replace the old one which led to epileptic transmission.

The two unions note that the new transmitter will rub off on the station’s service delivery and boost the performance of the workforce, especially in the dissemination of information on the programmes and policies of the state government, which is the primary duty of OGBC as a state-owned radio station.

It is also worthy of note that the new transmitter will enhance the reach of the station, thereby ensuring that the activities of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government are brought to the awareness of the people throughout the state and beyond.

Having acknowledged the impact the new transmitter will have on the station and the workforce, the unions therefore pledge the continuous support of the workers to the man who is changing the face of OGBC after a very long time, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

They also appealed for more attention from the government. “Like Oliver Twist, we however appeal to the government to attend to other needs of the station, especially staff bus to convey News Reporters, Programme Officers and others to and fro places of assignment.”

On the appointment of a Journalist, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, as the 20th Ogun State Head of Service, OGBC NUJ and RATTAWU appreciate Governor Abiodun for giving recognition to the Fourth Estate of the Realm by appointing one of its own as the number one civil servant in the state.

While congratulating Mr Onasanya for attaining the peak of his career as a civil servant, the two unions in OGBC urge the new Head of Service to continue with his track records of dedication, astuteness and proactiveness, qualities which earned him the appointment.
