Former sprinter and Bronze medalist at the 1974 Commonwealth Games, Benedict Majekodunmi is dead.

Benedict Majekodunmi who retired from active coaching twenty five years ago, was the first Athletics head coach in Ogun State.

The former sprinter who had a personal best of 10.3 seconds in the 100 metres event in 1968 took part in two different Olympic games representing Nigeria.

He was at the multi sports event in Mexico City in 1968, he also featured in the 4×100 metres event at the Munich 1972 edition in Germany.

The former athlete and coach won bronze medal in 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch as part of the 4×100 metres team.

Before then, he had represented Nigeria at the 1966 and 1970 Commonwealth Games.

He would be remembered as one of the first generation coaches who contributed most part of their lives into the development of Athletics
