WORLD TEACHERS DAY: GOVERNOR ABIODUN PLEDGES TO PRIORITISE TEACHERS’ WELFARE

As the role of teachers in nation’s building cannot be over-emphasised, the ogun state government has promised to continue to prioritise the welfare of its teaching staff

The state governor Prince dapo abiodun gave the assurance this midweek at 2022 teacher’s day celebration with the theme the transformation of education begins with the teachers held at the MKO International stadium, kuto, Abeokuta

The governor while acknowledging the role of teachers in the achievements recorded by the current administration in the last three years assured that as from January 2023, government would commence the payment of their outstanding leave bonuses and other allowances accrued to them

Appreciating the efforts of the teachers at the various levels,governor abiodun said his administration would continue to reward excellence in order to encourage them to be more proficiency in discharging their duties, stating that the overall best teacher , mr odufeso tajudeen from Isara secondary school will be gifted a two bedroom bungalow as other awardees too would also be rewarded with some amount of money ranging from two million naira

Rolling out some of the remarkable things carried out in the education sector, governor abiodun explained that no fewer than 956 classrooms has been rehabilitated at both primary and secondary schools across the state, the distribution of second batch of 25,000 furniture would soon commemce while government has also directed the state universal basic education board, SUBEB to compile the names of all qualified teachers for 2021/2022 promotion exercise

Governor abiodun while informing that the investment made in the sector has started yielding positive returns, the governor emphasised that large number of students from across the state have won many laurel in both local and international competitions as a result of the dedication and commitment of the teachers

Mr governor who commended the Labour unions for being a partner in progress for demonstrating maturity in resolving issues that has to do with the welfare of their members, assured that government would continue to create an ambiance for teachers to excel in the state

Commiserating with the teachers over the death of one of their colleagues recently, Mr Sunday Ogunjimi from Odeda local government, the man at the helm of affairs at the gateway state who described the untimely death as painful offered automatic employment to the widow of the deceased

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a new eighteen seater bus by governor dapo abiodun to the association of primary school head teachers of Nigeria, AOPSHTN
