GOVERNOR ABIODUN ASSURES CDAs, CDCs OF FULL INVOLVEMENT IN DECISION MAKING.

As community development is essential to achieving good governance, the Ogun State Government has assured leaders of Community Development Councils, CDCs and Community Development Associations, CDAs across the state that henceforth they will be involved in decision making especially on citing projects execution in their various communities.

The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance this Tuesday during an interactive meeting with leaders of Community Development Councils and Associations from all the 20 Local Government Area at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The governor who intimated the community leaders of the achievements of his administration in the past three years, said efforts were geared towards providing a secured environment for Investments to thrive, reviving the agriculture and education sectors as well as provide critical infrastructure like good road network and affordable houses for the people.

The governor informed that the Multimodal Transportation System of the current administration has been launched with a pilot Bus Transit programme in Abeokuta, stating that the reconstruction of major federal roads.like the Ijebu-Ode-Epe, Sagamu -Siun-Abeokuta and Atan-Lusada-Agbara roads, was to ensure that people carry out economic activities without stress.

On plans that would further open up the State for more Investments and social activities, governor Abiodun said the Ogun LightUp project that would ensure constant power supply across the State would soon kickstart in Abeokuta and spread to other parts while Mower, Ibafo and Abeokuta would also benefit from the Urbanisation Project that would commenced in the State soon.

The governor at the meeting approved the release of Grant to Community Development Councils saying a 7-man Caretaker Transition Committee would soon be set up to take charge of the Community Development Councils inorder to fast track the passage of the new Law.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman, Community Development Council, Ogun Central senatorial district,Alhaji Waheed Adekunle, urged the governor to look into the poor State of the Social Development College, Shasha, Illisan- Remo with a view to putting it in proper shape adding that empowerment programmes should be extended to youth in communities to make them feel a sense of belonging.

Alhaji Adekunle who appreciated the governor for convening the meeting, said they have awaited for such an opportunity in the last three years, called for the marking of Community Year come November this year.
