UThe Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on the officials of Nigeria immigration Service, NIS to form a synergy with other security agencies in addressing the problem of trans- border crime that is giving the state a serious setback
Governor Abiodun made the call onĀ Tuesday while playing host to the newly appointed Comptroller of Nigeria immigration Service, Ogun State Command, Comptroller Yakubu Jibrin at okemosan, Abeokuta
The governor explained that the residents at the border posts have been subjected to harassment and intimidation from criminals who usually cross from Benin Republic to the state to perpetrate crime and went back to their base
Urging the newly appointed comptroller to step up action in securing the state, mr governor said the state that borders oyo, Ondo, osun and lagos states with 16 kilometre land expanse has the highest number of towns that calls for extensive security mechanism
Assuring the immigration boss of necessary support to enhance his performances, the governor noted that the collaborative efforts between the government and the security agencies has made the state to be one of the safest in the country
He charged comptroller jibrin to use his vast experience in the job to assist the government in ensuring that the state is effectively secured
Speaking on international passport, the governor who applauded the minister of interior and comptroller General of Nigeria immigration service for the establishment of another passport office at sagamu, urged the new comptroller to expedite action in resolving some of the problems militating against timely issuance of international passport to the indigenes of the state
Earlier, comptroller jibrin who commended governor dapo abiodun for assisting the command financially and materially promised that the command would improve on its surveillance at the border posts in order to tackle the problem of trans border crime
