GOVERNOR ABIODUN PLEDGES THE REVIVAL OF OLOKOLA DEEP SEA PORT

The Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun says the current administration is set to revive the Olokola Deep Sea Port located at Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, in line with its transportation master plan.

Governor Abiodun gave the assurance this Monday at the 2022 edition of Ojude-Oba festival held in Ijebu-Ode

The governor informed that the decision is in line with the promise made to the people of ogun Senatorial District and the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona assuring that the project would be completed and commissioned by his administration

He added that the Senatorial District, just like others, has also benefited from major projects including the completed Ijebu-Ode-Epe road, Illisan-Ago-Iwoye road which is nearing completion and many township roads in Ijebu-Ode promising that the gateway Cargo-Airport at ilishan-remo under construction would be completed by the end of year.

Describing the theme of this year’s Ojude-Oba, “The Return of Ojude-Oba as apt, the governor informed that it has given the indigenes the opportunity to showcase the State unique culture, hospitality and put the State in the global calendar of festivals, stressing that it was also a rallying point for the people of ijebuland to assess the level of development recorded and also plan ahead for future

Mr governor assured that government would continue to support the various cultural heritage of the people of the state as a means of promoting tourism sector in order to increase the state internally generated revenue, IGR

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was the Special Guest of honour at the occasion in a remark highlighted the common heritage that bound the people of Lagos and Ogun States together, pointing out that the Lagos-Ogun Joint development Commission was inaugurated to further push development in both states to the next level.

Describing the Ojude-Oba festival as a rallying point that cut across religious and tribal factors, governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the festival in the last couple of years, has grown in lip and bound and also exposed the rich culture of the Ijebus to the outside world

He commended the organisers of the event for choosing him as the special guest of Honour

The event had in attendance, the state deputy-governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, former governors Segun Osoba, Otunba Gbenga Daniel,
and a host of other dignitaries.
