Tokyo Paralympics: Ogun State Born Tijani Latifat Delivers Nigeria’s First Gold Medal

Ogun State born Tijani Latifat today became the first Nigerian athlete to win a medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

After her first lift of 105kg was disallowed, the Nigerian weightlifter returned to write her name in gold with her subsequent attempt.

Latifat lifted 107kg and 117kg in her third and fourth attempt to win team Nigeria’s first medal at the Paralympics.

The Gold medal is the country’s 71st medal in the history of the Paralympics
