The Ogun State Governor Prince dapo Abiodun on Friday inspected ogun state property and investment corporation, building known as OPIC plaza located at mobolaji bank-Anthony way, Ikeja in Lagos gutted by fire on Thursday night as a result of gas explosion from a tanker fully loaded with Liquefied petroleum gas, LPG
Speaking with newsmen at the venue of the incident. after inspecting the building , Governor Abiodun expressed sadness over the inferno which he described as unfortunate.
Governor Abiodun while commiserating with the victims of the fire incidence said out of the thirteen people that sustained various degree of injuries eight of them had given up the ghost while a minimum of twenty-three vehicles were burnt.
The Governor informed that himself and his counterpart in Lagos State , Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu would soon open a discussion with the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR towards ensuring that all tankers carrying petroleum products are critically examine to ascertain their roadworhness to avoid future occurrences.
Commending the Lagos State gotvernor, and the Director–General of Lagos State emergency Management, LASEMA, Mr Femi Osanyintolu, Governor Abiodun said the timely intervention of the state government helped to mitigate the situation from escalating beyond control
He assured that with the Lagos -Ogun Joint Development Commission agreement recently signed, the Ogun state team would liase with that of Lagos state to work out modalities for the safety of lives and properties of the people within the two states.p
