The Ogun State government has promised to address the problem of flooding presently affecting some parts of Abeokuta metropolis
Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance this Monday during an inspection of flood proned areas including isale oja kuto, Ago ijesa and ijeun titun in Abeokuta South Local Government to symphatise with the residents affected by the flood due to the heavy downpour that rocked the town on Saturday.
Governor Abiodun while addressing the residents said government has commenced a palliative measure in the affected areas to ease the suffering caused by the flood
He promised to address the problem through the reconstruction of bridges, drainages and the channelization of the waterways to pave way for easy flow of water
Assuring that government has concluded plans to assist all the residents affected financially to cushion the effects of the damages done to their properties, the Governor warned the residents to desist from dumping refuse into the water channels to avoid blockages of drainages that may cause flooding
In his remarks, Alhaji Bello Mohammed who spoke on behalf of the residents thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for the visit which he said would boost the morale of the residents
Alhaji Mohammed urged the Governor to expedite action in the ongoing repairs in order to avoid future occurrence informing the Governor that the residents would continue to support the good work being carried out across the state by the current administration
