The bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Ogun state Waste Management Authourity and other matters connected therewith is expected to provide enabling environment,for improvement of the socio economic activities in the state.
The Speaker, the Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo gave the hint at the stakholders’ forum held on Tuesday at the assembly complex.
According to him,the need for the state government to forward the the bill to the house of Assembly was to chat a new course for waste management in the state, saying the importance of Legislative backup for govt policies cannot be overlooked.
He said the forum was organized to provide a platform for stakeholders to participate in a robust discussion and deliberation where imputs gathered will be painstakingly considered and finetuned to form part of the bill.
Mr Speaker however assured that the bill will be given accelerated passage to enable the present system of waste management in the state take a new shape.
In his submission, Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Assembyman Wahaab Haruna noted that a conducive environment enhances good health,and so,it is important saying that there cannot be meaningful economic development without a neat environment.
