Journalists have been reminded that they owe the people a responsibility therefore they must adequately report the Coronavirus pandemic in ways that will dispel fear.
The Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Media and Public Communications Honourable Remmy Hassan gave the reminder this mid week at a day training for reporters on Covid-19 organised by the Ministry of Information and Strategy in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Abeokuta.
According to him, the role of the media especially at this critical period is key, educating the people on the various efforts of the government to stem the tide of the disease as well as encourage them to cultivate the right attitude against the scourge.
While reassuring that the government will keep improving the healthy living of the citizens, Honourable Hassan called on the people to see the fight against coronavirus as a collective one.
In a welcome address, The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr Abiodun Awere noted that the rate at which the virus is spreading necessitated the training of reporters towards a continuous sensitisation of the people.
