People especially those experiencing joint pains and dislocations have been cautioned against self medication because it can complicate their condition.

A physiotherapist, Mrs Taiwo Olatunji gave the warning when featured on OGBC personality Programme “Sunday Morning Live on FM”.

According to Mrs Olatunji, it is advisable for people nursing fracture or any of form of joint dislocation to seek advice from physiotherapists instead of adding more pains through self-treatment or engaging the services of non-experts.

Emphasizing the importance of physiotherapy to healthy living, Mrs Olatunji pointed out that it gives no room for disease to hide in the body system, she cautioned people against engaging non-experts in the treatment of multiple fractures especially when such fracture is complicated with wounds to guard against infections that may lead to eventual amputation of the affected body part.

While stressing against the need for people to take precautionary measures against joint pains, the physiotherapist urged them to always keep their body warm to aid free flow of blood through the bones.

Our guest who is the Director of Physiotherapy Department at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta urged people to always be safety-conscious by guarding against accident that could lead to fracture, adding that sitting for long hours is dangerous to the body joint.
