Infulfilment of his promise to the people of the state, the Ogun State governor Prince Dapo Abiodun midweek commenced the disbursement of the sum of #10,000 known as ogun state educash to students of public primary and secondary schools across the state to cushion the effects of the economic hardship rocking the nation
The disbursement supervised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, led by its Commissioner, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu was flagged off in some of the public schools in Ogun Central Senatorial District whereby large number of parents received the money directly on their phones
Some of the schools visited include Baptist Girls College, Idi-aba, Abeokuta Grammar School, idi-aba and African Church Grammar School, ita-eko in Abeokuta South local government, Unity High School at Ago-ika, Baptist Boys High School, Saje and Ebenezer Grammar School, Elega and St Peters College,Olomoore in Abeokuta North local government
While addressing the parents of the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of education, science and technology, professor abayomi arigbabu said the cash disbursement meant for the indigent students was part of governor Abiodun’s agenda of enhancing educational development in the state
Professor arigbabu advised the parents to use the money for the purpose it meant for by equipping their children with all the necessary things that will improve on their educational standard stating that the disbursementĀ would be extended to two other senatorial Districts in the state
He noted
that a total number of fifty thousand students of tertiary institution across the country had benefittedĀ the sum of fifty thousand naira each, hundred thousand students of public primary and secondary schools would receive ten thousand naira each while a total number of eight hundred and fifty thousand non-indigent students would also receive five exercise books each
