The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called for an improved synergy among the security operatives towards strengthening the security architecture in the Southwest area of the country to enhance its socio-economic development
Governor Abiodun made the call on Thursday while declaring open the 4th quarterly security conference of the Southwest Directors of the Department of state services,held in Abeokuta
Expressing concern over the constant seccurity breaches along the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway, the governor however shared some of the plans with sister states of Lagos and Oyo state which include deployment of technology along the stretch of the road to address the challenges
He urged the security personnel to use the conference to address the emerging security threats from the zone,foster synergy and intelligence gathering with a view to finding a more robust solution to the menace of cultism,kidnapping among other emerging threats in the zone
Speaking on the waves of cultism which has resulted in many avoidable deaths,especially in Ogun state , Mr governor challenged the security operatives to rise to the occasion noting that his government has put several strategies in place to tackle the problem head on with the assistance of the security agencies in the state
The number one citizen of the gateway state lauded the security agencies for being proactive in reducing criminality within the region which according to him has made the southwest one of the safest regions in the country
Earlier, the Ogun state Director, Department of Security Service, Mrs Folashade Adekaiyaoja said that the security commanders in the region had over the years fostered a formidable synergy in reducing criminal activities in the region while promising that the security personnel would enhance its collaborative efforts of tackling crimes to its barest minimum
The conference was attended by DSS Directors from Ekiti , Lagos, Ogun,Ondo, Osun and Oyo states
