Motorists and other road users have been advised to be wary of activities capable of increasing road accidents during this festive season.

Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the advice this Monday at the 2022 ember months flag-off campaign by the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) held at the Ita -Oshin Motor park, Abeokuta.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, reminded motorists and other road users that nothing evil is associated with the ember months, saying that the incessant road mishaps often recorded in the last four months of every year are due to human errors .

According to governor Abiodun, the theme for this year’s ember campaign,”avoid speeding, overloading and unsafe tyres to arrive alive” was apt given the rate at which motorists violate traffic regulations, thereby resulting in avoidable accidents .

While emphasising the commitment of government to improving road transportation through construction and reconstruction of roads across the state,he charged the FRSC and related agencies to continue to sensitise road users to avoid dangerous actions and inactions as travels increase during the ember months.

In a remark, the FRSC Acting Corps Marshal, ACM Dauda Biu explained that the Corps chose Ogun State for the ember campaign because it captures a good number of federal roads, lauding the Ogun state government for supporting the activities of the FRSC at ensuring safety on such roads .

He added that over 800 patrol vehicles,100 ambulances,27 trucks, 80 motorbikes among others have been set aside as part the patrol logistics for the campaign.
