The efforts of the Ogun State government in promoting peaceful coexistence across the state on Saturday yielded a positive result as Governor Dapo Abiodun was honoured with the award of peace ambassador by the Southwest Chapter of Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF
The award according to the organiser was in recognition of his commitment towards ensuring that adequate security of lives and property are achieved in the state
Speaking after receiving the award held at June 12 cultural Centre, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun who commended the arewa consultatve forum for the award described it as a challenge to sustain and improve on the existing peaceful atmosphere in the state
The governor urged all the residents to continue to promote peace at all times in their words and actions stating that the current administration having understood the nexus between unemployment and crimes has introduced many workable policies towards the empowerment of the people of the state to reduce criminality
Describing the arewa consultative forum as an important factor to the political growth of the nation, the governor noted that the forum has continued to have influence in the political vanguard of the nation by canvassing for one Nigeria for everyone to enjoy
Governor abiodun who promised fair treatment to all the various tribes in the state said the arewa Community has contributed immensely towards achieving the agenda of the current administration of building the future of the state together
The governor advised the residents to shun politics of rancour and bitterness as the 2023 election is fast approaching urging them to always resolve their differences amicably without recourse to violence in order to avoid undermining the peace being enjoyed in the state
The national chairman, arewa consultative forum , professor audu ogbe represented by the administrative secretary of the forum, alhaji Mustapha munir in a remark appreciated governor dapo abiodun for his sterling leadership which according to him has fetched him the award
The National chairman commended the governor for creating enabling environment for the arewa communities in the state to carrying out their business activities without molestation and intimidation calling on other governors in the southwest to emulate his style of governance
