OGUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR PROFFERS SOLUTION TO HEALTH SECTOR CHALLENGES

Increased funding as well as innovative policies and frameworks are required for the improvement of the nation’s health sector.

There is therefore the need for governments and other stakeholders in the private sector to strengthen their partnerships with a view to leveraging on the various opportunities in the health sector for the enhanced wellbeing of the citizenry.

The Ogun State deputy governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele came up with this, this midweek while delivering a keynote address at the Healthcare Leadership Conference organised by Medic West Africa in partnership with the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria(HFN) held at Landmark Centre, Lagos.

Speaking on the topic, “Leveraging disruption within healthcare – possibilities for Nigeria”, Engineer Salako-Oyedele emphasised the importance of strong and viable private sector in driving quality and affordable healthcare in Nigeria.

The deputy governor who called for disruptive innovations to bring about a positive change in Nigeria’s healthcare delivery to restore people’s confidence in the sector,added that the emergence of Covid-19 has exposed the vulnerabilities in the healthcare systems across the world.

In an opening remark, the HFN President , Dr Pamela Ajayi saw the need to bridge the gap in access to quality healthcare in Nigeria,saying the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal on health is not negotiable.#
