OGUN PLEDGES MORE PPP ENGAGEMENTS

Public Private Partnership (PPP)has been described as a key enabler that promotes sustainable development.

The Ogun State government will therefore continue to embrace partnerships that will support its efforts at making technical and vocational education attractive to the youths.

Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known this Wednesday at the commissioning of Wessy College of Arts and Technology, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta .

Represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor identified vocational education as a major way of making the youths self-reliant through job creation, adding that the state youth empowerment scheme has recorded a huge success in that regard.

While giving kudos to Otunba Wasiu Taiwo for the establishment of the College which he described as a welcome development, given the need to give more prominence to vocational education in the country.

Also speaking, the wife of the governor who is the grand matron of Wessy College of Arts and Technology, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun called for increased funding and improved policy framework for the garment and textile industry in the country.

In their remarks, the commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs Kikelomo Longe and the special Adviser to the governor on technical and vocational education, Professor Joseph Odemuyiwa said it is high time Nigerians keyed into the benefits inherent in vocational education,emphasising that vocational education should be given the needed attention as the economy is being diversified.

In a welcome address, the Chairman , Wessy Group of Companies, Otunba Wasiu Taiwo said the College of Arts and Technology is an approved institution running courses in fashion, tailoring, cinematography,leather works,textile and graphics designs as well as catering and hotel management, to create jobs for the teeming Nigerian youths. #
