GOVERNOR ABIODUN INAUGURATES GOVERNING BOARDS OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.

The Ogun State governor Prince Dapo AbiodunĀ  on Thursday inaugurated the chairmen and members of governing board of the various state owned institutions with a charge to work towards the sustenance of the development of tertiary education in the State

Inaugurating the governing board at the June 12 cultural Centre Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun explained that the event was another symbolic commitment of the current administration in sustaining the legacy of the state as the education capital of the nation as bequeathed by the founding fathers

The governor explained that the current administration since inception has placed premium on education to reposition the sector by resolving crisis rocking some of the institutions such as moshood abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY and Tai solarin college of education, TASCE and through the introduction of various interventions both for tertiary, secondary and primary levels which according to him has continued to yield positive results as large number of students from the state have excelled in both local and international competitions

While congratulating the board members for being chosen to be part of the success stories in the state, governor abiodun hinted that their wealth of experience in their previous positions earned them the appointment urging them to surpass the current achievement in the sector by making the state owned tertiary institutions to be best among the equal out of all the arrays of tertiary institutions in the country

The number one citizen of the state admonished the new board members to avail the government quality advices in order to make the institutions more effective stressing that government has approved the annual #200 million state intervention funds for the state owned institutions, purchase of buses,reintroduction or scholarship for the indigent students across the country among others

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman, governing Council, olabisi onabanjo University, OOU, professor toyin ashiru thanked governor abiodun for given them the opportunity to serve the state promising that the governing boards of all the state owned schools would reinvigorate its internally generated revenue in order to reduce the financial burden off the government’s neck

While promising to justify the confidence reposed on them, professor ashiru assured that the council members would work assiduously in ensuring that tertiary institution education is taken to an enviable position in the state
