As insecurity continue to pervade the nation, Nigerians have been advised to eschew violence and promote peaceful coexistence
It is therefore imperative for church according to the ogun state governor, Prince dapo abiodun, to continue seeking the face of God for the unity and economic sustainability of the nation and also complement the efforts of government to tackle corruption, anti-social behaviours among the youth and divisive tendencies among the opinion leaders
Governor abiodun gave the advice this midweek at the 108th convention of Baptist Church with the theme moving forward, finishing the race with joy coupled with the valedictory service for president of Baptist Convention, reverend Samson ayokunle after ten years in service at the church camp site along lagos-ibadan expressway,
The governor who described the theme of the convention as apt explained that the prevailing situation in the country has made it mandatory for the state and other institutions responsible for mass mobilization and socialization such as the church to continuously work hand in hand so as to present a united front towards combating security challenges confronting the nation
According to the governor church should continue to lend itself as the conscience of the society so that the nation will continue on the path of socioeconomic development and prosperity
The governor commended the outgoing President of the baptist convention, reverend Samson ayokunle for his selfless service to the vineyard of God
In his remarks, the governor of oyo state, engineer seyi Makinde noted that reverend ayokunle has excellently served the church in the last ten years urging him to extend similar service to the state and the nation in general
Also speaking, the former president, Chief olusegun obasanjo encouraged the congregation to work hard and cooperatively support the incoming President, reverend israel akanji as they have done to his predecessor
