Civil/Public Servants in Ogun State have been assured of the present administration’s commitment to increase the level of knowledge, training and intelligence that will aid them on their jobs to ensure excellent service delivery.

The assurance was given today by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, when he led a delegation comprising the Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Olapeju Ottun, the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi, Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kolawole Ogunlana and his counterpart from the Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, as well as directors on an on the spot assessment/fact-finding visit to the Staff Development Centre located at the IBB Boulevard, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.

According to him, the centre will be used for almost all the trainings for all categories of Civil Servants in the State, as it is a multi- faceted facility intended for the training of all the workers so that their level of knowledge, understanding and appreciation of each worker’s role in the “building together” agenda can be increased.

He noted that the centre is not in a good state as a lot of work needs to be done, thus, the visit has rekindled the spirit of rehabilitation in the government’s team, with a promise that government will unveil its strategy in tackling the challenge in the fullness of time.

“The centre will be used for almost all the trainings. It is a multi-purpose facility for training all ministries, departments and agencies so that the level of knowledge, understanding and appreciation of each worker’s role can be increased; this the governor emphasised from day one, that in “building the future together”, everybody must be on the same page. Therefore, it is his responsibility, not his wish, to return the centre to its previous glory, the SSG said.

In her own contribution, the Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Ottun, appreciated the State Governor for putting the Civil Servants in a pride of place in his heart, with a call on all the workers to get prepared to add to their knowledge, as this year will be full of trainings for all categories.
