The ogun state government says the 2021 budget will serve as a continuation of its determination in the provision of good governance for the people of the state irrespective of economic status and geographical location
The state governor prince dapo abiodun gave the assurance this Monday during a treasury board meeting on 2021-2023 medium term expenditure framework and 2021 budget organized by the ministry of budget and planning held at the Oba’s complex, okemosan
Governor abiodun while acknowledging the effect of covid 19 on global economies including that of the state, said the current administration has continued to work on practical strategies that would ensure that the welfare, wellness and wellbeing of its citizenry are taken care of
Stressing that despite the fact that government has done well in stemming the tide of covid 19 and also boost the state economy after the long downturn ocassioned by the global pandemic, the governor ,charged the various ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs to come up with proactive programmes and projects that will help the state to overcome it’s economic challenges in order to collectively achieve the agenda of building the future of the state together
The governor who noted that the treasury board meeting will serve as an avenue for government to receive further contributions from members of the public service said for the coming year, all hands must be on deck to ensure a more robust fiscal Year that will sustain government’s policies and programmes towards successful transformation of the state
He therefore called on the relevant stakeholders to continue to cooperate with the government towards building a more prosperous future of the state stressing that in the 2021 budget great emphasis will be placed on the relative value and cost of each expenditure item upon which government will commits resources
The governor harped on the need for the civil servants to be dynamic, prudent and diligent as there is an increase expectations from the public that the government becomes more innovative by devising new approaches for the fulfilment of its policies and programmes
In a welcome address, the commissioner of budget and planning, honourable olaolu olambitan described the meeting as an opportunity to assess budget estimate for the approaching fiscal year either to alter or approve the estimate as deem fit
He said the task before the government is huge as efforts must be made in preparing a robust fiscal year budget that will cater for the needs of the people
Also speaking, the commissioner for finance, honourable dapo okubadejo harped on need for adequate planning in the expenditure for the coming year and how to generate the much needed revenue to finance the projects
He said the only way to mitigate the effects of the global pandemic is through delivery of quality service, transparency and institutionalization of good governance which the current administration is known for
