OGUN GOVERNMENT POISED TO MAKE THE STATE MAJOR EXPORTER OF FOOD CROPS

The Ogun state government has reassured that efforts is in top gear in making the state exporter of food in the country

Governor Dapo abiodun gave the assurance this Tuesday while playing host to the market enterprise development advisor, Hajia Fatimah Buhari at the exco chamber, okemosan in Abeokuta

Represented by the deputy governor, engineer noimot salako oyedele, governor abiodun explained that since the inception of the current administration, agriculture has been given a priority in its Iseya pillars in ensuring mass food production and sufficiency

In achieving this task, governor abiodun informed that government has widened its agricultural programs by supporting the farmers with the necessary inputs for the massive production of rice and cassava

He added that government has also established rice mills and cassava processing centres across the state to enhance food production adding that large number of the rural roads had been repaired to facilitate easy movement of finished agricultural produce from the various farm locations to major towns in the state

Governor abiodun while commending Hajia fatimah buhari for her determination towards agricultural development in the country, assured that the state government would continue to partner the federal government in its stride of improving the nation’s economy through agriculture

In an opening remark, the commissioner for agriculture, Dr adeola odedina informed the visitor that Ogun state presently ranked the highest in the country in the area of implementation of the anchor borrower programme as over 50,000 youths have benefited from the program

The commissioner explained that government is partnering private investors towards the generation of technology for the large production of rice and cassava which is the state is known for stressing that the state has become the largest producer of rice in the southwest

Earlier, the market enterprise development advisor, Hajia Fatimah buhari submitted that Ogun state is the best in the implementation of the value chain development program in the country informing that the program has received full support from the state government through the payment of its 2018 counter funding

Hajia buhari said she was in the state to link up the cassava farmers with off takers and see how youths and women especially widows could benefit maximally from the program
