The directive of the Ogun state government that there should be no congregational prayers during this year’s Eid-el Kabir is not to dampen anyone’s spirits, but to ensure that people live well and healthy.
So says, the state Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele in an interview with Staff reporter, Olajumoke Onafowora on the development.
Maintaining that the government has good intentions for the people, she stated that Governor Dapo Abiodun made the pronouncement on Wednesday as part of measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus, among Muslim faithful, as Salah is being celebrated.
Engineer Salako-Oyedele who Implored Islamic faithful to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols by observing prayers with family members and not congregate,as they can also observe virtual Celebration, reminded them that the Holy Quran admonishes adherents to obey constituted authority, just as it cautioned against visiting a plague ridden place.
The Deputy Governor who encouraged those who could not slaughter ram this year due to the economic effects of the pandemic not to loose faith, explained that slaughtering of rams to mark Eid-el-Kabir comes with a clause that only those who can afford to buy one should perform the ritual, saying that it is the individual piety that matters to Allah.

prayed that the situation would have normalised before the next Salah.R
