OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT HAS ASSURED OF THE COMPLETION OF AKUTE-ALAGBOLE ROAD

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has appealed to the residents of Akute/Alagbole road in Ifo local government in Ogun Central Senatorial district to exercise patient as government has put the necessary machinery in place towards the completion of the road.

Governor Abiodun who made the plea midweek while reacting to recent media hype on the road explained that the Commissioner for Works has been directed to redesign the road to reduce its number of lanes as government couldn’t afford to spend seventy billion naira on a single road which was initially the cost of the contract awarded by the immediate past administration

The governor while sympathising with the residents over the deplorable condition of the road posited that government attached importance to the road and would do everything possible to complete it as early as possible

According to Prince Abiodun, the Akute Alagbole road was not started by this administration , though the government attached importance to it due to its centrality and government cannot afford to start it and abandon it, but efforts would be made in ensuring that it is completed

He urged the residents to bear with the government as the relevant agencies have been instructed to make it motorable pending when full reconstruction exercise would commence on the road

The governor informed that the current administration within a year in Office has constructed 80 kilometers road rehabilitating other 50 kilometers roads which was unprecedented in the history of the state, adding that contractors have also gone back to site to continue working on some of the major roads in the state like Owode/ilaro road, elite, Fajol/Obantoko road in Abeokuta South Local Government and Oba- Erinwole road in Sagamu

He assured that the government is committed towards the improvement of infrastructural amenities in the state to enhance the movement of the residents.
