Government will continue to use mechanised farming as a means of encouraging youths to participate in the ongoing agricultural revolution
The commissioner for agriculture, Dr Adeola odedina gave the assurance on Friday while inspecting the Odeda cassava farmers revolution training centre for youths .
According to him,the state being known as the largest cassava producing state has introduced technology drives in planting of cassava sticks in order to boost the state economy through abundant cassava production
He explained that 2,500 land have been earmarked for the youths that will be opportuned to be trained in the various 17 centres across the state , adding that odeda cassava farm was selected as a reference point to showcase the standard to be applied in other centres by the youth .
While pointing out that the project would help to create Jobs for the youths and make them relevant in the sector, the commissioner commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his zeal towards boosting agriculture.
On his part,, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Dotun Sorunke said the planting of cassava would turn around the state’s economy and make the youth to appreciate the importance of technology to agriculture which has currently simplified system of farming.
