The need for collaborative effort in tackling violence against women is returning to the front burner with the spouse of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun advocating community approach in tackling the menace.
Mrs Abiodun who spoke on Tuesday in Abeokuta at the inaugural meeting on violence aginst persons prohibition management (VAPPMC) saw the need for community leaders to discourage their subjects from engaging in the dastardly act.
Explaining that the commitee comprising stakeholders was put in place by Governor Dapo Abiodun to address the problem of gender-based violence, she noted that the state was the first in the country to pass the violence against persons prohibition bill into law due to the respect the current administration accords the women in the state.

In her address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Honourable Funmilola Efuwape who expressed sadness that violence against women remains a widespread problem at all levels of society in the world,assured that the Ministry will continue to work relentlessly towards ensuring full implementation of the law in the state.
