Governor, Dapo Abiodun has commiserated with the family of Tiamiyu over the death of their son Kazeem promising that the police personnel involved in the killing shall face the weight of law.
Governor Abiodun made the promise this Tuesday while addressing the family of the deceased during a condolence visit to the family house in Sagamu.
Governor Abiodun who described the incident as unfortunate said it caused the entire state a lot of pain, losing such rising star saying that since the incident happened the government has been working hard to investigate and consequently take drastic steps.
The Governor informed that all the police personnel that carried out that act were on illegal duties and were not under the state police command but of zonal intervention force under the Assistant Inspector General, AIG, zone 2.
While assuring the entire people of the state of quick dispensation of justice on the issue. The Governor said all the police personnel involved were already arrested and detained while the Inspector Genenral of Police has dispatched Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of research and planning, Mr Peter Ogunyanwo to take over the investigation.
The governor implored the family to take solace in God promising that the state government will assist the family with the necessary things so that the death of their son will not be in vain.
Earlier on, the mother of the deceased, Mrs Selimot Tiamiyu described the death of her son in the hands of police as a sad development.
Mrs Tiamiyu urged Governor Dapo Abiodun and the police authorities to ensure that all the culprits involved in the killing of her son are brought to book.
