OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT SET TO PAY NEW MINIMUM WAGE OF #30,500

Ogun state has again live up to the expectation of its workforce as the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government agrees to pay the workers on its payroll beyond the mandatory national minimum wage of #30,000.

In a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) on the agreement signed by the representatives of the organized labour and the Head of Service, Town Planner Amope Chokor, who led government delegation, both parties also agreed on the consequential adjustment of 27 percent for grade level 07, GL08 20 percent, GL09 19 percent, GL 10 to 14 15 percent and GL 15 to 17 14 percent.

Speaking after signing the MOU, The Head of Service commended the organized labour for their support and understanding within the past eight weeks of negotiation and thanked the governor for the good gesture which would spur the workers to be more productive and efficient in their service delivery to the people of the state.

Responding on behalf of the organized labour, The Chairman Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Comrade Olanrewaju Folorunsho, appreciated the Governor for taking the bold step in approving the minimum wage.

On his part, the Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Bankole said that the agreement was signed in the interest of the workers after they considered its affordability and sustainability.
