It must also join forces with other stake holders to strengthen democracy in the country.
A veteran journalist and a former board chairman, Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, Aremo Taiwo Alimi said this at the gathering of media experts in Abeokuta.
While calling for a re-orientation of new entrants into the media industry, Aremo Alimi warned against short sighed journalism.
The veteran journalist opined that non issues are always given prominence because many young journalists do not have proper knowledge of happenings around them.
Aremo Alimi also believed that the media should strive to promote family valves and national interest pointing out failure of democracy in the country will be a disaster to sustainable development.
