FIRST PHASE OF OGUN LIGHT UP PROJECT TO BE READY IN EIGHT WEEKS’ TIME.

The problem of epileptic power supply rocking the state will soon be over as the first phase of Ogun light up project being supervised by the state independent power project will be ready for commissioning in eight weeks’ time

Governor Abiodun who let this out this monday during an on the spot assessment of the ongoing project at Onijanganjangan Power Plant in Ewekoro Local Government explained that the first phase of 30 mega watts out of the proposed 100 megawatts when completed will supply 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to some parts of Abeokuta stressing that similar project will be replicated in major towns like Sagamu, Ado Odo-Ota and Ijebu-Ode.

The governor who expressed delight over the level of job done by the contractor handling the project submitted that the reason for the visit to the site was to assess the job in comparison to the report he had received so far, about the ongoing project stating that the project was part of his administration’s plans to leverage the availability of gas reticulation from the Escravos-Lagos pipeline system to solve energy problem, improve commercial and industrial activities in the state

Mr governor submitted that the initiative put in place by his administration through the establishment of Ogun State Electricity regulatory commission was in partnership with private sector to end the erratic power supply in the state adding that the state government was propelled to embark on the project after the federal government removed from the exclusive legislative list the generation, transmission and distribution of power in the country which according to him authorised the state’s governments to generate its own power.

Noting that with the installation of turbine and other equipment at the site, the governor expressed optimism that the project would help to enhance electricity availability and also ensure that power from the national grid can adequately serve smaller communities within the state

The first citizen of the gateway state assured that his government would continue to provide substantial infrastructure that would better the lots of the people of the state.
