Motorists using the road leading to the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Ajibayo village, connecting Ajebo and Abeokuta in Obafemi Owode Local Government, will soon heave a sigh of relief as the Ogun State government is set to commence its long-awaited reconstruction.
Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this while receiving the Board of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, led by its Chairman, Dr. Dayo Israel, at his office in Okemosan, Abeokuta.
The governor revealed that the state government has partnered with the federal government to ensure that, in the coming months, work begins on the access road to the institution.
He acknowledged that while the contract had been previously awarded, it was later abandoned.
However, he assured that efforts are now in top gear to rehabilitate the road, which also serves as a major link to Ibadan.
Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing qualitative healthcare delivery, emphasizing that the presence of a Federal Medical Centre in each state is meant to complement state government efforts in making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
He congratulated the board members on their appointments and described Dr. Dayo Israel’s leadership as a strategic decision that would enhance healthcare delivery at the FMC, Abeokuta. He also urged the board to collaborate with the state government in improving healthcare services.
In a response, Dr. Dayo Israel pledged to provide visionary leadership that would help the institution boost its resources, increase revenue, and attract more funding to meet its growing needs.
