OGSG PLEDGES TO UP ITS GAME IN EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES

The Ogun state government has expressed determination to continue to record success in its various empowerment initiatives with a view to projecting the state as the best among Its peers.

The Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele gave the assurance while playing host to a team from three Northern states on Nigeria for Women Project(NFWP) Scale-up Peer learning visit to the gateway state.

According to the Deputy Governor, the choice of the state as the hub of learning for other states on the implementation of the Nigeria for Women Project of the federal government is a testament to the huge success being recorded on the project in the gateway state.

Engineer Salako-Oyedele pointed out that the NFWP which targets rural women between ages 18 and above with a means of income generating activities has indeed been achieving the desired results in the state alongside the Ok’owo Dapo empowerment scheme.

Also speaking, the state commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Honourable Adijat Adeleye who led the team to the Deputy Governor’s office explained that the delegation was in the state to study the modalities being adopted in the state for the successful implementation of NFWP scale up in the three Northern states.

In their remarks, the commissioners for Women Affairs from Katsina, Zamfara and Jigawa states all commended the state government for its open door policy that has rubbed off on the NFWP implementation,adding that they would put into use all they learnt from Ogun as they also implement the project for the empowerment of women in their states.
