The Ogun State government has reiterated its plan in using agriculture as a means of youth empowerment across the state
Governor Dapo Abiodun made the remark this tuesday during the inspection of Green House Soilless farm laboratory technology at Awowo in Eweloro local government
The governor explained that his government has identified the abundant prospects that exist in the sector, which he said would help in resolving unemployment and also serves as a means of addressing the problem of food shortage currently affecting the nation
Governor Abiodun who expressed satisfaction over the activities at the green house described the coordinator of the farm laboratory, Mr samson ogboli as a responsive and responsible man who has impacted greatly in youth empowerment through agriculture noting that within twenty months of its existence, the farm laboratory has trained a total number of over ten thousand students between the ages of 18 and 35 through its work and learn by becoming an agric entrepreneur
He noted that the initiative was a testament to the success of public private participation, PPP, promising that the state government would take ownership of the farm by supporting it in order to do more for the nation’s youths
The governor while assuring to replicate the program in every part of the state said such a program has helped in building leaders, capacity, creating employment and also generate revenue for the students
Earlier in a remark, the coordinator of the green house farm laboratory, Mr samson ogboli thanked governor Abiodun for creating enabling environment for the sustenance of the program in the state without any hindrance stating that since he started the projects, he has empowered over ten thousand youths from across the country and the neighbouring countries
Mr ogboli stated that due to the success of the.program in the country, the Rwandan government is ready to partner the farm through the provision of a hundred hectares of land for similar project in their country
