The Ogun State government on Thursday donated twenty-five patrol vehicles to the state police command and other security agents and also acquired surveillance drones to strengthen the security architecture of the state.
Speaking at arcade ground, Okemosan, Abeokuta while presenting the vehicle to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr kayode Egbetokun, governor Dapo Abiodun said the patrol vehicle was part of the support the state government has extended to the security agencies in the state in order to sustain its position as the most peaceful state in the country
The governor who expressed optimism that the vehicle would help the police personnel on effective patrol across the state said the state government has prioritised the security of lives due to the influx of people into the state as the industrial hub of the nation.
On the surveillance drones ,Mr governor informed that the drones were acquired to monitor criminal activities in obscure areas of the state and along Lagos-Ibadan expressway in order to reduce the problem of kidnapping, robbery and other vices.
He explained that the drones would also be operated by the security personnel who had undergone various training programmes on its usage.
The state helmsman therefore assured the IGP of more support to the security agencies in the state for effective policing system
The inspector General of Police, Mr kayode egbetokun in a remark commended the governor for the presentation which he said would go a long way in assisting the security personnel in the state to be more proactive
Speaking on the acquisition of the surveillance drones, the IGP described it as a welcome development urging other state governors to follow the footstep of the Ogun state governor
The highlight of the event was the commissioning of the patrol vehicles by Mr kayode Egbetokun
