GOVERNOR ABIODUN PLEDGES RECONSTRUCTION OF MORE RURAL ROADS

The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has promised to reconstruct more rural roads to achieve food security in the state

Governor Abiodun made the promise on Tuesday at the commissioning of 3.12 kilometres Oke Erinja-Ilobi road in Yewa South Local Government.

The governor explained that the commissioning of the road was another testament of his administration towards the provision of infrastructural amenities across the state.

Mr. Governor who noted that the reconstruction of the road would enhance the commercial values of the area described Erinja and Ilobi as the food basket of the state, adding that it would also accelerate the transportation of farm produce from the farmlands to major towns in Ogun West and the state in general.

The governor while assuring the residents of Erinja and Ilobi of the completion of the remaining one kilometre road that connect the two communities informed that the current administration has reconstructed over one thousand kilometre roads since inception with the determination to develop every part of the state without leaving any part

Describing infrastructure as an enabler of economic growth, the governor stated that the citing of a Police training school in Erinja community by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun was made possible through the good road network urging the sons and daughters of the state to utilize the opportunity by enrolling  in the Nigeria Police Force

He said the remaining 17 kilometres of Sango-Akute- Ijoko road in Ifo Local Government would be awarded this week to enhance the lives of the residents of Akute and  Ijoko, noting that one lane of Atan-Lusada-Agbara road under reconstruction that lead to the largest industrial park in West Africa has been completed while the other lane would also be done soon.

He commended the Chairman of Ogun State  Traditional Council,  the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle for believing in his government, promising that the current administration would continue to prioritise infrastructural development in Ogun West Senatorial District.

The first citizen of the gateway state implored the residents of Erinja and Ilobi communities to take ownership of the road for proper maintenance,  warning motorists to desist from over speeding on the newly reconstructed road

The Commissioner of Works, Engineer Ade  Akinsanya in a welcome address informed that the road awarded for reconstruction in September 2024 was part of the commitment of governor Dapo Abiodun -led  administration in enhancing people’s movement within the axis

Engineer Akinsanya noted that the new road that was formerly in deplorable condition would help to aid the transportation of farm produce and also provide relief for the residents.
