Meanwhile, Governor dapo Abiodun has promised that the state government would collaborate with the federal ministry of works, the contractor and other stakeholders toward the timely completion of the expansion of Lagos-sagamu expressway
The governor therefore appeal to the road users to be patient with the contractor handling the job in the course of the reconstruction process
Governor Abiodun made the remark this Saturday during the flag off of the rehabilitation, reconstruction and expansion of work on Lagos-ibadan dual carriage way section one, Lagos-sagamu held at sagamu
The governor who lauded president Bola Tinubu for his efforts in prioritising road infrastructure in the country said the flag off was another landmark achievement in the Renewed Hope agenda to position the nation’s economy on global power house
Describing the Lagos-Ibadan expressway as the busiest highway in the country, governor Abiodun noted that the road has suffered from congestion and disrepair which has affected the movement of road users in the past stressing that the expansion of the road would enhance productivity, ease of doing business, safety of road users and reduce travel time
He pointed out that the expansion of the highway has consolidated the historic reputation of ogun state as truly the gateway to the nation’s prosperity adding that the inclusion of sagamu-ore-Benin road in the expansion scheme reflects the determination of the current administration at the centre that national roads network must meet the international standard and it would also support the state government’s aspiration for economic growth
The man at the helm of affair at the gateway state commended the minister of works Senator Dave umahi for supporting the vision of President Bola tinubu in ensuring that all toads in the country are motorable urging the minister to reduce the completion period to eighteen months instead of twenty-four months initially proposed
