The Ogun State Committee on Food and Nutrition has officially adopted the 2025-2029 Costed Strategic Multi-Sectoral Plan of Action following an intensive three-day validation and brainstorming session held in Ijebu-Ode.

The document, aimed at strengthening the state’s nutrition policies and enhancing food security, was formally endorsed this Thursday.

Speaking at the adoption ceremony, the committee’s chairman and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mrs. Funmilayo Dada, expressed confidence in the plan’s potential to transform the nutritional landscape of Ogun State.

She emphasized that the initiative aligns with the state government’s broader efforts to revitalize food security and ensure better health outcomes for residents.

Mrs. Dada praised the contributions of committee members drawn from various ministries, departments, and agencies, describing their input as brilliant and invaluable.

She noted that with full implementation, the strategic plan would yield significant benefits for the Gateway State.

In his remarks, Dr. Anthony Oko Isu, a consultant to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for fostering an environment that enables stakeholders to collaborate on food and nutrition policies.

He also lauded the administration’s commitment to agricultural diversification, highlighting its potential to boost food production across the state.

Dr. Isu, however, urged the Ogun State government and donor agencies to work closely in ensuring the effective execution of the plan.

He stressed that the successful implementation of the plan would play a pivotal role in reducing malnutrition and hunger, ultimately improving the well-being of the people.
