An elder statesman and prominent chieftain of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Ayodele Adebanjo, has passed away at the age of 96.
Reports indicate that he died on Friday morning at his residence in Lekki, Lagos State.
His family confirmed the news in a statement jointly signed by his children.
The statement highlighted Pa Adebanjo’s unwavering commitment to the vision of a truly independent and progressive Nigeria, noting that he dedicated his life to the cause until his final moments.
