The Ogun state government has restated determination to ensure that people do not pay out of their noses for food commodities.
Part of efforts in this direction is the ongoing construction of 40 lock-up shops and 200 open stalls at the Asero Farmers Market, Abeokuta.
The Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele stated this this Monday while inspecting the construction of the shops and stalls alongside the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr.Bolu Owootomo and other officials of the ministry.
Engineer Salako-Oyedele expressed the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun to making food stuffs , especially farm produce accessible and affordable to consumers by curbing artificial price increment due to middlemen activities.
Explaining that the construction will be replicated in the three senatorial districts, the Deputy Governor added that the upgraded market has amenities including toilet facilities, drainage system, slabs for butchers and fish processing unit.
She lauded the contractors for the quality and pace of the work being done,charging the market men and women to ensure proper utilisation of the market when completed.#
