The Nigerian armed forces have been lauded for being resilient and selfless in their efforts at defending the nation’s territorial integrity and combating internal threats.
The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the commendation this midweek at a reception commemorating this year’s armed forces remembrance day celebration held at the 35 artillery brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Prince Abiodun described the Nigerian armed forces as the vanguard of national security, saying they remain the pillar of unity and strength of the nation.
Reaffirming the commitment of the current administration to working closely with the Nigerian army and other security agencies towards ensuring that the people of the state always go about their activities without fear.
According to Governor Abiodun, the armed forces remembrance day celebration is a moment of sober reflection when the Nigerians need to think deep about the huge and ultimate price paid by the fallen heroes for the peace and unity the country enjoys, adding that as the nation honours the memory of the fallen heroes, the state government will continue to prioritise the welfare of the serving military personnel,veterans and their families.
He therefore called on the citizenry to uphold the values which the fallen heroes stood for by promoting Nigeria as a nation where peace,unity and justice prevail.
In a remark, the Commander, 35 Artillery brigade, Alamala Abeokuta, Brigadier-General Muhammed Aminu thanked the state government for supporting the command in its efforts at guaranteeing ultimate peace across the state, assuring that the soldiers will continue to collaborate with other security outfits in ensuring that the gateway state remains safe for all.#
