OGSG COMMENCES THE BUILDING OF 200 OPEN STALLS,LOCK- UP SHOPS AT ASERO FARMERS MARKET

As part of efforts to make farm produce and other food items available to the people at reasonable prices, the Ogun state government is building 200 open stalls and lock-up shops at the Asero Farmers Market, Abeokuta.

The construction, according to the Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, is to expand the capacity of the market for enhanced buying and selling.

The Deputy Governor who w;as on an inspection visit to the market together with the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Bolu Owootomo to assess the ongoing project this Friday, said Asero Farmers Market has been underutilized, adding that the determination of the current administration to support farmers and traders towards food prices reduction necessitated the ongoing expansion of the market

Engineer Salako-Oyedele who reteirated the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun to boosting food security across the state,noted that the market will be modernised with the necessary facilities in place to attract farmers, traders and consumers there.

Appreciating the Deputy Governor for the visit, the traders expressed gratitude to the governor for the market expansion, promising to continue to cooperate with the construction workers for timely completion of the project.#
