Young Nigerians have hobbies and talents which can easily be translated into business opportunities if they receive the necessary support through training, mentoring and financial empowerment.

Companies and organisations have therefore been charged to extend their Corporate Social Responsibilities to helping the youth develop their skills for self reliance.

The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele who gave the charge this Tuesday while playing host to the management team of the International Breweries Plc and the beneficiaries of its Kickstart Empowerment Initiative,commended the company for giving back to the host community and the society at large through the programme, an initiative that promotes entrepreneurship among the youth.

Engineer Salako-Oyedele thanked the International Breweries Plc for being a partner in progress to the state government, saying the support the state received from the company during the Covid-19 pandemic was invaluable as it went a long way to keep the people safe and healthy.

Describing the International Breweries Plc as a responsible corporate entity with a good relationship with Orile Imo, the Deputy Governor urged it to always make the host community derive maximum benefit from its operations.

Speaking on the essence of the visit, the Gateway Plant Manager, International Breweries Plc, Mr. Akintayo Oguntunde appreciated the government for providing a conducive and secured environment for the company to operate in the state, emphasising the commitment of the company to supporting the growth of the economy with its flagship social investment programme for young entrepreneurs between ages 16 and 35.

According to him,Ogun indigenes has benefited from Kickstart, a collaboration between International Breweries Plc and Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency(SMEDAN) in grants totalling ₦36.5m.#
